This is true because reading develops the mind. Through reading one can have vocabulary expansion, develops listening and language skills and basic knowledge about the world around him. It also helps improved ones memory and later on acquires better writing skills. Here at SIS we want to develop in them their love for literacy and this can only be gained through experience. Thus, students are provided with lots of reading materials and reading opportunities. This January, Lion Class begins to explore being good readers after phonological awareness and mastery. Not only they are learning but enjoying it as well. They are given activities where language and literacy are achieved best. To develop comprehension they are asked to answer questions with who, what and where and let them arranged words to form simple sentences, etc. Their early experience in reading can be a basis for later reading success.
